florações recentes - recent blooms
ainda não há muitas flores no meu jardim, mas volta-e-meia eis que surge uma mais precoce, uma que se antecipa à sua espécie e surge vinda do nada!nesta época são principalmente bolbosas, mas também alguns cactos e, em breve umas suculentas...
there's not many flowers in my garden at the moment, but from time-to-time there is an early bloomer, one that anticipates its kind and wich is coming from nowhere!
for now they are mainly bulbs, but also some cacti and, soon, succulents...
esta aqui é uma Anemonen hollandia red,
das várias que plantei pela primeira vez este ano. infelizmente acho que são todas vermelhas, mas mesmo assim são bem graciosas por isso não há motivos para arrependimentos! vieram aqui parar por fazerem lembrar os campos de papoilas selvagens no verão, e quem não gosta dessas belas passeatas no meio deles?!

one of several that I planted for the very first time this year. unfortunately I think they are all red, but they are so graceful that there is no reason for regretson the mono-colour! they qrrived here for remembering the fields of wild poppies in summer, and who does not like these fine marches in their midst?
torna-se cada vez mais evidente a minha veia naturalista mas, pelo menos desta vez, corre nela sangue realmente vermelho...
becomes increasingly clear my naturalist vein but, at least this time, it is really red blood ...
ultimamente tenho mostrado muitas fotos de quase todos os nossos jacintos. não sei bem porquê mas acho que não se cinge só ao facto de terem sido os mais madrugadores. se calhar o seu delicioso perfume têm alguma insuspeita qualidade adictiva ou estimule os meus pobres neurónios a falar deles, quem sabe?!
mas não foi isso que os trouxe de volta ao blog, mas antes o facto de este estar a re-florir: a primeira floração já lá vai, e por isso enviei-o de volta para a varanda após uma passagem pela cozinha. a ideia era que ele carregasse baterias para o próximo ano, mas pelos vistos a plantinha teve outras ideias! ainda não se livrou da flor velha e eis que já lá vem outra haste carregadinha de flores :)
se calhar é um acontecimento normal mas, ainda não tendo lido nada sobre isso, não pode deixar de me surpreender... já alguém viu uma coisa assim?!
lately I have shown many pictures of nearly all our hyacinths. I really dont know why but I think that it's not limited only to the fact that they were the most early bloomers. maybe its delicious perfume have some unsuspected addictive quality or stimulates my poor neurons talking about them, who knows!?
but what brought them back to the blog was the fact they are re-blooming, the first bloom is already over, so I sent it back to the balcony after a passage through the kitchen. the idea was that it recharge for next year, but the plant had different ideas! not yet got rid of the old flower and behold, there is already another new stem of flowers :)
Maybe it is a normal event, but still not having read anything about it, can not fail to amaze me... has anyone seen something like that?!
esta é uma fuchsia, uma fuchsia sempre em flor aqui na varanda. já deve ser bisavó porque sempre que se parte um ramito logo é transformado em estacas, que pegam sem dificuldade alguma ;desde que a mudei para um local mais fresco e sombrio ela rejuvenesceu com um novo verde bem diferente dos tons amarelos que sempre exibía: no verão tinha sempre mais flores que folhas para vocês verem, o que não deixava de ser curioso...
this is a Fuchs, a Fuchsia flowering for ever here on the balcony. great-grandmother has to be because when a branch gets broken it is soon transformed into new cuttings, which will grow without difficulty;
since I moved it to a cooler and darker location it has rejuvenate with new greens a lot different of the yellow shades that it always have displayed: always more summer flowers than leaves, for you see, which is still interesting ...
na bandeja de cactos também já cheira a calor, e um dos recém chegados cactos já tem flores. cactos em floração são sempre um acontecimento, mesmo para quem não é grande fã deles, o que claramente não é o meu caso! infelizmente as fotografias não estão muito nítidas porque eu tive preguiça de mudar a bandeja para um sítio mais fotogénico, e como é tão pequena não é fácil de fotografar com a nossa maquineta. as macros não ficam muito focadas, a não ser de uma certa distância, o que é um grande handicap. claro que podia usar a outra não digital (só por curiosidade é uma verdadeira máquina de fotojornalismo de guerra-literalmente, uma nikon fm2, que tira fotografias assombrosas! infelizmente os tempos são de crise, e revelar fotografias sai bastante dispendioso, já para não falar que eu não tenho scanner de negativos)mesmo assim acho que saíram bonitas, também como não, com uma flor tão elegantemente contrastante com o corpo gelatinoso, um pequeno malmequer numa coroa de espinhos...já agora, este cacto ainda está por identificar, alguém tem alguma sugestão do que é? eu agradeço :)
the Tray of cacti have also smelled the heat, and one of the newcomers have a few blooming flowers. cactus in bloom is always an event, even for non-big fan of them, which clearly is not my case! unfortunately the pictures are not very clear because I was lazy to change the tray to a site more photogenic, as is so small is not easy to shoot with our average digital camera. the macros are not well focused, unless from a certain distance, which is a major handicap. of course that I could, otherwise, use the film-camera (just for curiosity it's a real war-machine of photojournalism-literally, a Nikon FM2, which takes stunning photos! unfortunately this are times of crisis, and reveal photos gets rather expensive, not to mention I have no scanner for negatives). I still think they came out fine, how not? having a flower so elegantly contrasting with the gelatinous body, a small daisy in a crown of thorns ... now, this cactus is still to be identified, if anyone have any suggestions of what it is I'll be happy to hear them :)
esta é a última que tenho para mostrar, o cacto também está por identificar e por isso agradeço sugestões, por enquanto é a única, das dezenas que tem, que já mostra a sua raça. acho-a bastante curiosa: parece feita de palha metalizada, e tem uma coloração verdadeiramente contrastante com o verde! tácticas de sobrevivência evolutivas, certamente, será que Darwin viu uma destas nas suas viagens de beagle?! de certeza que as muitas cores e sublimes diferenças dentro de cada género lhe ia dar em que pensar... sou um leigo mas esta era para ser uma piada tecnológica ao jeito do nosso engenheirinho ;p
this is the last I have to show, the cactus is also to identify, and therefore appreciate suggestions, for the moment the flower is the only one, among dozens, that has already showing it's race. I find it rather curious: it seems made of metallized straw, and has a vivid color contrasting with the really green body! Evolving tactics of survival, certainly, do you think Darwin saw one on his beagle adventures? sure that the many beautiful colors and sublime differences within each gender would give him something to think about... I am a layman but this was meant to be a joke in the way of our technological-prime-minister-engineer..
por agora é tudo, e se tiverem ideias sobre a identificação dos cactos não deixem de comentar. eu fico contente com isso e agradeço toda a ajuda, já se sabe!

o canto tropical - my tropical corner
for my relatively small experience, this is a place with good conditions for cultivating orchids and bromeliads, but of course, this last ones will make up just fine anywhere with no intense sun.
can be seen on the photos:
orchids: Dendrobium nobile, Dendrobium Phalaenopsis, odontoglossum, Oncidium;
bromeliad: pineapple, splendens Vriesea, Tillandsia, Nidularium;
intruders: lithops, Crocus, dracaena marginata, Kalanchoe blossfeldiana
a janela da sala -- the living-room window
não me lembro se já tinha mostrado esta janela por aqui, a janela da sala, que como todas as outras estão bem compostas, por assim dizer. as plantas são algumas das que tenho mostrado por aqui, pelo menos as que têm flores!parece que gostam da janela, não é?!
também com tanto sol nesta altura do campeonato era difícil ser de outra maneira... em troca de poucos cuidados e alguma água nós recebemos [e agradecemos] o maravilhoso perfume e as cada vez mais variadas e coloridas flores [para já narcisos, muscari, jacintos e euphorbia]
I do not remember if I had shown this window around here, the window of the living-room, which like all the others is well composed, so to speak. the plants are some that I have shown here, at least those with flowers! it seems they like the window, isn't it? although with so much sun for this time of season it would be difficult to be otherwise... in exchange for some water and little care we received [thank you] the wonderful perfume and increasingly varied and colorful flowers [for now daffodils, Muscari, hyacinths and Euphorbia]

bolbos em flor - blooming bulbs
com o adeus à chuva sombria de inverno os bolbos mais precoces decidiram aproveitar este sol de primavera antecipado para mostrar as suas belas cores. já tenho feito alguns posts sobre esse assunto mas aproveito agora para fazer um resumo pouco resumido e uma compilação de fotos ilustrativa...saying goodbye to the dreary rain of winter, earlier flowering bulbs decided to take advantage of this recent spring sun, showing its beautiful colors. I have made some posts on this topic but now i'll do a short little summary-compilation with illustrative photos of them...
estes primeiros são alguns dos crocus, para já só desta cor, que tenho espalhados por aí. para quem não sabe, como eu também não sabia, o açafrão (esse mesmo da cozinha) não é mais do que o pólen de de dezenas de milhares de crocus. dá que pensar uma vez que são quantidades mínimas por cada um e recolhê-lo é certamente uma tarefa hercúlea! o açafrão foi durante séculos a riqueza desse paraíso perdido que é a Caxemira: basta ler alguma coisa do mais-que-fantástico salman rushdie, como por exemplo o espantoso romance shalimar o palhaço, para sonhar com as vastidões dos campos de crocus desse mártir-quase-enclave eden. na altura em que li o livro não sabia nada destas singelas, mas espectaculares flores, mas mesmo assim fui transportado no tempo e no espaço para essas latitudes longínquas: a correr e a saltitar pelos campos, mas sempre sem o pólen que, à excepção do cheiro, se assemelha bastante ao dos lírios e hybiscus. e se agarra à roupa da mesma maneira viscosa...
these are some of the first blooming Crocus, for now only with this color, I have scattered around. for those who do not know, as I did not know, the saffron (the same as we all have in the kitchen) is not more than the pollen of tens of thousands of Crocus. is something to think of, as they are minimum quantities for each one and collect it is certainly a Herculean task! The saffron was for centuries the richness of that lost paradise that is Kashmir: just read something that the more-than-fantastic Salman Rushdie wrote, for example the amazing novel Shalimar the clown, to dream with the endless fields of this martyr-almost-enclave near eden. when I read the book I knew nothing of these simple but spectacular flowers, but still I was transported in time and space for such remote latitudes: running and jumping at those fields ,but without pollen. wich, except the smell, is quite similar to that of lilies and hybiscus. and wich cling to the clothes the same viscous way...
será desta que vou conseguir ter túlipas?! depois de algum entusiasmo inicial ao ver alguma cor surgir nos botões, eis que estagnaram mais uma vez: parece que surgem demasiado cedo para o tamanho das plantas, será calor a mais?
assim sendo tenho alguma esperança de ainda lhes ver as flores, mas contraditoriamente não estou nada optimista. é pena porque estas túlipas parrot pareciam bem bonitas na
embalagem...
will it be this time i'll have tulips?! after some initial enthusiasm to see some color on the buttons appear, they are stalled once again: it seems that emerge too early for the size of the plants, maybe a heat effect?
so I hope some of them still flower, but conversely I am not at all optimistic. it is a shame because this parrot tulips seemed to be really beautiful on the
packaging photo...
este é um muscari armeniacum dos que começaram a nascer por todo o lado. já não me lembrava que tinha comprado tantos ;Pacho-os bastante curiosos pois parecem um cacho de uvas invertido com a cor a condizer, embora me pareçam mais adequados para bordaduras de caminhos do que para vasos!
pena é serem tão pequeninos, nem se dá por eles assim isolados...
this is a Muscari armeniacum, one of the many that began to grow everywhere in the balcony. I no longer remember I had bought so many ;P
I find them very curious because the flowers seems a inverted bunch of grapes with matching color, although I think they are more suited to edge of paths than for vessels!
it's a pitty they are so tinny, is being so little, we barely see them so isolated ...
este é o mesmo narciso do último post, agora numa perspectiva diferente e com uma mão sexy a ajudar na pose para a fotografia. são lindos e parecem bastante prolíferos e fáceis de manter, uma benesse até chegar o calor penso eu...há vários por estas bandas, mas não sei se não serão todos assim amarelos, já não me lembro ;P depois digo qualquer coisa...
this is the same narcissus from the last post, now with a different perspective and with a helping hand in sexy pose for the photo. they are beautiful and seem very prolific and easy to maintain, at least until the heat arrival ... I think I bought many different of these, but I do not know if all will be yellow, I do not remember ;P i'll say something when...
e por último mais umas fotos recentes dos hyacinthus, agora já mais crescidos e com as flores quase no auge. primeiro vieram os rosas, mas agora são estes azuis que começam a dominar. são plantas fantásticas, com flores quase de cera e um aroma a flores frescas e esfusiante. é a primeira vez também que tenho jacintos, mas a partir de agora vão ser um must na varanda sem dúvida alguma! ainda por cima são plantas eróticas como se pode observar pela fotografia da direita: cabra-macho como dizem nas novelas ;p
and finally some more recent photos of Hyacinthus, now grown and with the flowers reaching it's peak. first came the rpink, but now the delft blue are starting to dominate. these are fantastic plants, with flowers almost made from wax and intense aroma as refreshing fresh flowers perfume. this is the first time that I grow hyacinths, but from now on they will be a must on the balcony, without a doubt! and adding to this, they are top erotic flowers as can be seen by the photo on the right: male-goat as they say in soap-operas ;p
